[OpenLayers-Users] General question for displaying large numbers of points

Has anyone on the list encountered or dealt with a situation where very
large numbers of points needed to be displayed or rendered (i.e. LIDAR
data)? I would imagine that you'd have to do the rendering server-side, and
then display an optimized product in the client. Has anyone confronted this,
or have suggestions?
