[OpenLayers-Users] How to Optimize the Display of Large KML files in OpenLayers?

Hi, this is my first submittal so please bear with me. I display a large
KML file here: http://OpenCycleRoc.zgroks.com/roc.html on top of the
OpenCycleMap . This KML layer is a bicycling suitability map in three
colors and has a lot of segments even after having been simplified to some
degree. Using OpenLayers, I am trying to display it. It works, but is
rather slow and choppy. Whereas, at this site:
http://gis.zgroks.com/bbigm.html I am able to display the same KML file
very rapidly using the Google Maps JavaScript API V 3. Does anyone have any
suggestions in terms of how to optimize the display of large KML files
using OpenLayers? I have reviewed the documentation as far as I am aware
and any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Bob
