[OpenLayers-Users] geoserver group layers and styles

I'm not aware of a way to do this. This question may better be suited
for the goeserver-users list.

You can, however, group layers in an OpenLayers.Layer.WMS as well, and
assign styles:

new OpenLayers.Layer.WMS("combo", "/geoserver/wms", {
    layers: "layer1,layer2,layer3",
    styles: "style1,style2,style3"
});
