[OpenLayers-Users] How to use CQL filter

Do anyone have an example shows how to use CQL filter ?
I've found this one
http://openlayers.org/dev/examples/cql-format.html

but still it isn't clear enough.

I have a vector layer with many features and i need to filter it by user
input.
if the user inter [ id ] in a search box, just that feature has to be
displayed on the map.
like a search function.

do you have any idea how to do that ?
