[OpenLayers-Users] Saving/retrieving client side

Hello

How can objects drawn on a vector layer be saved on the client's computer so
that they can retrieve them for later use?
I have been reading the OpenLayers 2.10 Beginners Guide book and it mentions
this could be done with the vector Format class using the read(data) and
write(features) methods but there is no detailed explanation on how to do
this.
