[OpenLayers-Users] Future of OpenLayers or OL3

My 2 cents on this topic;
Improvement on OL2.x should go into the OL2.x branch.
- Perfect that OL3 will be modern, using the latest and greatest in
possibilities and technology. I would like to cheer at the core developers
"Go OL-team, go!"
- OpenLayers is open source, there are no limitations to forking/continuing
the OL2 branch for "folks and organizations that cannot (or do not want to)
keep up with the latest and greatest, even when it is free". If I am
correct OL2 will be available for ever (as is OL1 which is still there, in
the repository http://svn.openlayers.org/branches/openlayers/1.0/)
These organizations (or at least their policy-makers) are used to lagging
on behalf of security, maintainability, service and support and would have
no problem using openlayers 2.x instead of 3.x. These organizations are
often still on Microsoft XP, Internet Explorer 6 or 7. People in these
organizations often work with "one hand tied on their back and one eye
closed shut" (and it often frustrates them to the bone)
And I would like to suggest people that depend on OL2 and its availability
in lagging infrastructures to save a few pennies to support OL2 development
or dig in the code themselves and "patchsome!"
