No, it should be handled by the browser. Your best bet is to
pre-authenticate with the NT domain (eg. by visting a regular page in the
domain) so that the security token can be cached in the browser for the
session.
Note that, since you seem to be/if you are doing XHR, the reverse proxy
server you may be/are using needs to understand and support NTLM (eg.
forward the correct headers, cookies etc.)
