[OSGeo BC] free BC OSM TMS service?

Hi Brian,

 

It would definitely be great to have this as a local resource, off-loading
from the main OSM servers at the same time. 

 

I’ve recently done some prototypical work with MapServer, cascading the BC
Governments WMS image offerings into 900913 (and others!) that are useful to
a wider range of web-mapping applications. Might be neat to offer some
layers into the mix if we can ... 

 

When is that BC Chapter beering/meeting happening?

Just curious whether there is a free tile service available for BC OSM data?
I'm interested in accessing it from standard GIS software, e.g. Manifold,
ArcGIS, QGIS, etc., as an alternative to constantly configuring basemap
vector data.

If not, can anyone recommend an organization we could approach to offer this
up in a reasonable amount of time?  E.g. Safe Software, GeoBC?  Or might
there be interest in self-funding a hosted service via OSGEO-BC, e.g.
$10/mth per acct?
