[osgeo4w-dev] OSGeo4W love

Hello everyone,

In the next few weeks I will be giving some love to OSGeo4W.  My thanks 
go to some specific partners in Japan: Osaka City University and the 
Applied Technology Co. for this.

We will be focusing on translating the installer and documentation into 
Japanese.  I have already done some initial tests with some Japanese 
characters in the resource file (through ticket 
http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ticket/126) and it worked great; thanks go 
to the developers who initially set up this structure (through ticket 
http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ticket/91), making our job quite easy.

The Japanese documentation will be added into the Trac wiki (you might 
have seen some test JP pages recently).

My personal goals are the following:

* test the installer on Windows7 Ultimate (a requirement of the project)
* where possible I would also like to enhance the existing docs on the 
Trac wiki
* I hope to give some love back to the OSGeo4W packages and installer 
parts that I can in fact modify (I may need assistance here, as the 
cygwin setup code is extremely difficult for me)
* You will see me giving nudges to package maintainers who's packages 
are important to the partners, to upgrade the version or report/fix some 
bugs etc etc (I am specifically thinking of GDAL and MapServer here)

Yes admittedly I have high hopes, for only a few weeks...but I just 
wanted to publicly let the OSGeo4W community know that you'll be seeing 
some tickets flying around, and I may attack some of those above goals.
