 I can confirm the problem no. 1. I just used the installer on XP
 yesterday, and wanted to place the installation in a folder on drive
 {{{D:}}}, which resulted in {{{qgis.bat}}} having the default path
 {{{C:\OSGeo4W}}} and not the installation path {{{D:\[...]\OSGeoW4}}}.
