 instead of writing to a file, does it work to have the command redirected
 from stdin?

 e.g. does this work:

 echo "alter role \"user\" with password 'user'" | sudo -u postgres pqsl
 }}}

 or

 sudo -u postgres pqsl << EOF
 alter role "user" with password 'user'
 EOF
 }}}
