Simon,
Simply put, double clicking on the desktop icon just doesn't work. I
just built beta4 12 hours ago. The hmm, if it still says launchhelp that
might be the problem, it's launchassist which is actually a wrapper to a
sudo command in a file. Happens to be the only way I could get deegree
to launch too. It's not an issue with the command you had, it seems to
be a bug in the way desktop icons execute in xfce.
I'll test some more today, with beta4,
