 sorry, I don't understand the problem.

 "ps fax" gives me two new threads after starting deegree. One is the
 deegree tomcat, the other is firefox (assuming firefox had not been
 started before).

 "stop deegree" will shut down the deegree tomcat (killing the first opened
 thread) and leave firefox as it is.

 Please explain.
