done in r3350, r3351 and r3366. Tested locally on my karmic-frankenstein,
seems to work as intended. Since we are so close to the end of the release
cycle I followed the path of least change/risk and left the residual
Applications menu item there. We can rework the install_beta script post-
release, and/or comment out the Applications menu replacement in the
install_beta script once the Geospatial menu item is verified to work
(and the menu itself :).
