Looking at beta1 gdal_pam folder exists in /home/user/.qgis/ but .qgis
shouldn't exist until the first time QGIS is run. So what in our creation
scripts is doing it?
I checked and the qgis packages installed via synaptic do not appear to
create the mystery folder. If we can identify this we can actually fix the
issue and not just work around it.
