The idea is to produce a booklet which introduces the most important GIS
software available for the linux users. For more technical and updated
details, the reference will remain the web site. For example, the Vademecum
produced in 2009 (that I linked in the previous email) about the most
popular software available in GNU/linux, is re-printed every year for the
Linux day which takes place in Italy in October, and I think it is still
valid because it is kept very general, maybe only slight modifications are
made from year to year.
The project of expand the availability of the booklets on various topics
such as GIS, cryptography, etc. is now under discussion. The idea was
raised by a member of a LUG, who asked the other members if they were
available to write one of the booklets about the topic that they like the
most. The online repository is currently:

The target is people about to approach Gnu/Linux world, curious to know
what is the offer in term of GIS. It shall be distributed during events
such as Linux day, fairs, etc. The source text will be available on the
repository under the license CC-BY-SA (most likely), and will be printed in

page empty, in order to place there the sponsor which will support the
printing.

I will surely rummage from the official documentation and see what can I
