[Live-demo] Local installation

Could you please provide some context to help with locating the problem.

Which version of OSGeo-Live are you using?

What process did you follow to install OSGeo-Live?

If you have not already tried it, I suggest following this process:
http://live.osgeo.org/en/quickstart/osgeolive_install_quickstart.html

We usually test by installing OSGeo-Live into a VirtualMachine (for me, 
I use VirtualBox).

It is possible this tip from the docs might be relevant:

Tip

Installation Tips In case you are installing using a username other than 
“user”, tomcat applications require to have permission to service 
command as described inhttp://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/1153
