Hi everyone,

We had a blast in Bucharest. If you couldn't make it they have the videos here https://media.ccc.de/b/conferences/foss4g2019. We had presentations about the thematic maps by Timo Aarnio and my technical presentation for what we've accomplished in a year. Clearly I need to start talking faster to get all the stuff said in 20 minutes but here's the slides http://zakarfin.github.io/oskari_foss4g_2019/#/ :)

We also had a workshop for Oskari RPC on monday. Thanks for the participants! You can find the hands-on material here: https://oskari.org/documentation/examples/FOSS4G_2019/workshop

But now we are back in business so... Releases!

We have 1.53 coming up shortly in about three weeks (~20.9.) and we are currently planning 1.54 to be released at the end of october/early november. These are important since we are rolling out the new WFS-integrations backend (replacing the transport webapp). Since it's a complete rewrite we would really like to get some feedback from this and for users to test it out. On 1.53 we will have an automatic migration to the new system but you can still opt-out of it. On 1.54 we will "force" everyone to switch from transport to the new system and there's probably something that still doesn't work (like the content-editor maybe?).

For 1.53 features include things like:

- the new WFS-system (improved from 1.52 where it was already possible to try it)

- sample app has been MOVED and improved from oskari-server to sample-server-extension repository (that is replacing the current oskari-server-extension-template repository)

For 1.54 features we are targeting to have:

- the 3D-mapmodule that we've developed on demo-kartta.paikkatietoikkuna.fi to be included in official Oskari codebase

- rewrite for the map layer listing/admin tools based on React

Best regards,

         Sami
