[Ottawa_users] Meeting Tonight

I wanted very much to attend this month's meeting, but we just bought a
house and the closing day is today. I doubt very much that I will be
able to come by tonight.
I do want to share with the community a new application that Agriculture
Canada is releasing to the public in the next week or so. It's based on
OpenLayers and ExtJS which is something I know many are interested in.
Our application is configured from a WMS context document - in our
system, all layers are WMS. We use TileCache to cache the Mapserver WMS
layers. We have some voodoo on our proxy server helping us along too.
We have legend support (initially just mapserver mode=legend calls) -
later we intend to release a legend service to handle the WMS legends.
We also have GetFeatureInfo capability.
It's a work in progress - this will be the first of 3 iterations before
the end of March 2009. We have plans to make it more extensible, and
are actively working on this part of it.
When it goes public, I can let everyone know when it's available to look
at. At a later meeting, I can talk more about it. Perhaps another
meeting in early December?
Liz

I think I'll make an effort to show up tonight, if other people are
planning on attending.
I like the idea of lighning talks a lot, for what it's worth.
