Ouch -- I've been bitten by this many times in the past, I should have thought of it when Martin & I did the laszip interface.  I'm willing to believe that's exactly the problem.

Rats.

That means PDAL windows developers can't just rely on OSGeo4W, unless maybe we can somehow get a VS2010 build into the osgeo4w bundle?
