[postgis-devel] Development Environement

For the information of the Uvic team,

- The target development/build environment is the "GNU Environment". 
- Ideally, every environment with a complete set of GNU tools should be
a potential target.
- Realistically, we will work with and test libraries under the
platforms easily available to us.
  - Win32 / Cynwin
  - Linux
  - Solaris

- The compiler will be gcc/g++
- Build control will be via GNU make (aka gmake)
- Source control will be via CVS
- Autoconf may be required for platform dependency resolution
