Having had a quick read of GBT#4, I'm not too worried about generating a
patch since there needs to be some discussion about what exactly would be
the right thing to do, if indeed it is broken.

GBT#13 is a different matter - a quick play at this end shows that it's
another 8.3 varlena-related bug :(  I'll start digging into this to see if
I can come up with a fix.
