What steps will reproduce the problem?

server closed the connection unexpectedly
	This probably means the server terminated abnormally
	before or while processing the request.

This is running on TODAY's PostGIS SVN and GEOS 3.1.0RC1. It's on a 32-bit  
Ubuntu 8 LTS box
with PostgreSQL 8.3.5. Had the same problem with 1.3.4.
