 Just a slight clarification on why 1.4 is at the moment not always a clean
 upgrade

 Actually I had 2 separate unrelated applications where I had to revise my
 stored procs to work with PostGIS 1.4.  One of them was using ST_X,ST_Y as
 I recall) -- I'll have to double-check how I had to change that.  since
 like I said the fact that our postgis_upgrade is not completely right
 results in having to change different things depending on if you do a
 restore untop of a clean postgis 1.4 versus using the upgrade script we
 have.  Sorry to bring this up in an unrelated ticket.
