Maybe we should agree on changes in the specs in the forum before polluting Trac too much.

Otherwise I agree with this change. The default should be 'GDAL' if no second parameter is passed.

Is it really faster to implement such a function in C instead of plPgSQL? I know one is implemented in C and the other one in plPgSQL.
