Most of the people I speak to at various conferences are users and so
are just happy that the installer is simple and "just works".
I know people have talked about VC builds in the past, so the first
question to ask is are we preventing people from developing code for
PostGIS because they can't develop under the VC environment on Windows?
The new build system was developed with the idea that this should be
possible, and Mateusz's patches have definitely proved this. But I don't
see many people complaining on -users that they can't build using VC.
The thing to remember is that we support a dozen or so systems
automagically thanks to PGXS and to maintain a separate VC build system
will take a reasonable amount of effort. So until we find someone
willing to maintain the VC build system then I see this as a bit of a
non-starter.
ATB,
Mark.
