 Yes.  We'll probably have to.  I'll post a message later tonight.  Any
 thoughts on what to do in the interim?  ST_Transform is a critical enough
 function that I wouldn't mind making minimal use of the C++ API though a
 quick audit of the PostGIS codebase shows a strict adherence to only using
 C.
