Hi Paul,

Thanks for the heads up.
A possible work around would be to host some 1.5.x binaries on another 
repository, since OpenBuildService does not archive old versions of the 
rpms.
Since OBS uses version control, I can get the latest 1.5.x postgis 
version up and running elsewhere. Perhaps we could advertise this 
solution in postgis documentation somewhere, so that people can see it?
I will see if there can be any name convention (like postgis1) for the 
old version, but this could lead to some other troubles...

I will get back with a plan for this.
