 FWIW I've spent another few hours on my shp2pgsql-gui patch and have ended
 up rewriting a substantial chunk of the core as a result of various issues
 I've found.

 I'll leave the ticket open, but I'm fairly sure this will be fixed when I
 finally get something to a comittable stage (real soon now).
