Debian lenny (which I'm still running on some machines) has:
cmake version 2.6-patch 0

Ubuntu 10.04 lucid (which I'm running on my main development host) has:
cmake version 2.8.1

Ubuntu 10.10 maverik (another machine I have) has:
cmake version 2.8.2

Basically I have _no_ machines with cmake 2.8.8 or later.

Will cmake allow running tests before installing (ala libtool) ?
