 I should not have filed this. Suggest closing it.

 I found no PostGIS 2.0 packages on Ubuntu's packages page (nor on
 PostGIS's own page) - so I took a chance and picked the source for the
 debian dir. from a 1.? package - fiddled a lot with it :-/ and finally got
 it to compile/install.

 Next time in a similar situation I will try to google it / or search for
 special PPA's
