[postgis-devel] Raster support in 2.0.0

Hi,

I began testing packaging PostGIS for Fedora/RHEL/Scientific
Linux/CentOS and others. So far it seems pretty fine, but I'm having
some issues with raster support.

To add raster support to PostGIS, I need to install gdal-devel package,
and the current gdal package in Fedora/EPEL repositories are not aware
of the new PostgreSQL RPM layout. I can make it aware, but then:

	armadillo-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	cfitsio-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	CharLS-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	chrpath is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	freexl-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	hdf-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	hdf-static is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	hdf5-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	jasper-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	libgta-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	libspatialite-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	netcdf-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	libdap-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	librx-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	mysql-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	numpy is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	ogdi-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	poppler-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	xerces-c-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64
	xz-devel is needed by gdal-1.9.0-1.f16.x86_64

and it means more build dependency to RPM buildfarm.

So, the question from the "non-GIS and just a packager guy" is: How
critical is raster support? Is it ok if I just ditch it out from the
spec file?

Regards,
