 Interesting enough the _same_ input passed to ST_AsEWKT give a parsing
 error:
 ERROR:  parse error - invalid geometry

 going to canonical output and back to canonical input fixes the ST_AsEWKT
 but not ST_SimplifyPreserveTopology
