[postgis-devel] Minimum version of GDAL for PostGIS 2.1

Hey all,

Now that PostGIS-trunk is targeting 2.1, I'd like to start a
discussion for setting a new minimum version of GDAL required
for PostGIS.
Supporting 1.6 is a pain and the last release was in November
2009.  The ideal would be 1.9 due to GDALFPolygonize and
various other improvements regarding burning geometries to rasters.

Personally, I'd like to up the minimum to 1.8.  Thoughts?
