Comment:

 Oh well, I restored full compatibility with 1.5 as of r10702 in trunk and
 r10703 in 2.0 branch. Tested the same testcase (augmented) against 1.5 to
 verify.

 It's still inconsistent (between polys and lines) but it the same old
 behavior now.
