Agree, let's check first before modifying everything yet again. Also,
if the process is closed when the query is cancelled the memory
will be returned to the OS automatically.
OTOH, if the process outlives the query, then the leak is masive.

Technically doable, if just requires quite a bit of work in GEOS.
