Hi,
This is just not true. According to discussion you linked, for QGIS gitlab
is used as a mirror just like PostGIS has one.
However, gitlab is mentioned as escape plan for case something bad happens
to GitHub, as it supports importing tickets from GitHub in case of need of
another move.
