I'd say real data should include

- line work from OSM (roads or something) which will tend to have a certain amount of box overlapping
- a polygonal coverage, like a census tracts file, which will tend to have fewer box overlaps
- a trajectory file or something else with a very high degree of overlapping
- a large point data set, something population oriented so it has a large range of spatial density difference
