Comment:

 Please everyone test r16232 - if it works as expected we want to backport
 it to 2.4 and 2.3 branches. It greatly simplifies the code too, removing
 the smartness. The way I used to test it:

 RUNTESTFLAGS="-v --extension --upgrade-path=2.3.4--2.5.0dev" make -C
 regress check
