 Note that I've already started this feature request, and will switch the
 ticket type to "patch" when ready for review.

 So far, testing a few simple GPL-licensed functions by
 [https://people.sc.fsu.edu/~jburkardt/c_src/asa183/asa183.html John
 Burkardt]. Results from `r8_random` and `r8_uni` appear to provide similar
 numbers to the output values from 2008 on 64-bit Windows, x86 Linux, and a
 MIPS virtual machine. Another good resource is
