Comment (by robe):

 Note this was available in PG 3.2 but was disabled by default because it
 slowed the speed of some spatial queries.  Fixes were made in PG 15
 upstream so now the performance is as good and sometimes better than old
 and still improvement of gist building (of order of 2, not quite as good
 as before)
