 Just a note: right now there is NO WAY to request no snapping (see #5688),
 so what where you referring to here ? Is it 0 precision in the topology
 record ? In that case a snapping tolerance is computed based on the input
 line distance from origin.

 I agree on a max_edges parameter, will work on a pull request for that.
