[postgis-users] Trouble installing postgis

I've successfully installed postgresql (version 7.2).
When I go installing postgis the make process returns me the following error
message:



"	/usr/i386-slackware-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lpq
	collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
	make[1]: *** [shp2pgsql] Error 1
"

Then the process stops.
Can anyone help me?
