[postgis-users] Does the centroid function work?

I'm using 0.73 with PG 7.2.2

SELECT centroid(geometryfromtext('MULTIPOINT(0 1, 1 0, 1 1)', 4269))

returns NULL

Is this a bug, or are there restrictions on what sort of geometries centroid() 
will work with?
