I make the change to $libdir in accordance w/ guidance from the HACKERS 
list. PgSQL is supposed to locate linking libraries by going through a 
search list of possible directories, and $libdir is supposed to 
facilitate that. Seemed to work in my testing here on Mandrake 8.
