[postgis-users] 0.7.4 compiling problem

 am a new user trying to install postgis 0.7.4
under postgres 7.3.1 (Mandrake Linux 9.0)
When I run the make command I recieve the following
message:

root at desktop postgis]# make
make -C loader

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpq
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [shp2pgsql] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/tmp/postgresql-7.3.1/contrib/postgis/loader'
make: *** [loaderdumper] Error 2

  

Any solutions would be worthful
