Connecting last point -> first point seems to be a polygon transformation.
Which versison of pgsql2shp are you using ?

i use postgis-0.8.1 and the pgsql2shp which is included there. actually, it
not seems to be a polygon. when importing the shape to conicgis, that i plan
to use for updating geometries, it is a line with equal first and last point.
