Opensource means that clients have access to source code. So, if you use an
opensource software, that's because you can get the source code.

Free software means software licensed by a GPL-type license. GPL means:

- You are free to distribute the free software
- You should be able to obtain source code
- You are free to change source code
- When distributing that software, or other software which uses the same
code, you have to use GPL license.
- any patent must be licensed for everyone's free use or not licensed at
all

Just have a look at GPL license: http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.htm

As you can see, opensource is just a part or a concept used by free
software.

Dear Users

Can anyone in your own words clarify the difference between "open source"
and "free software".

Many Thanks
