[postgis-users] Multipolygon intersection GEOS error

There is a libgeos.so.1.0.0 in the /usr/local/lib dir and a libpostgis.0.8
in the /usr/local/pgsql/lib dir.

Would that help to determine the versions ?

mm... you should ask the guy that did the install.
also warn him that postgis installation is probably broken,
as PL/pgSQL and lib functions should match.
