[postgis-users] Distance() vs ? - performance

Paul,

You have to be a bit careful with queries like that.

I've attached a picture of a polygon - and its bounding box extended by 
1km.  There's also two points (pt1 an pt2).

You can see that p1 is in the bounding box (but far away), but pt2 is 
outside the bounding box (but close).
